Welcome, Kissel Hill Climbers!

Hey there, Kissel Hill students! I’m Erin Shebish, a herpetology educator, and I had an awesome time visiting your school to share my love for reptiles and amphibians.

This page is just for you! Here, you’ll find cool animal facts, fun activities, and ways to keep learning about these amazing creatures.

How I Got This Toadally Awesome Job!

Did you know you can work with reptiles and amphibians for a living? That’s what I do!

What is a Herpetology Educator?

I teach people about reptiles and amphibians; how to care for them, how to protect them, and why they are important to our world.

How Did I Get Here?

  • When I was a kid, I was obsessed with reptiles and amphibians!

  • I studied them, learned all about their care, and got involved in herpetology programs.

  • Now, I work with the Amphibian Foundation, where I help teach others how to understand and care for these incredible animals.

If you love animals, you could have an amazing job working with them one day too!

Meet the Coolest Creatures!

You got to meet some of my amazing reptile and amphibian friends; here’s a little more about them!

Zephyr (Ball Python) – “I’m a calm, slow-moving snake who loves to gently explore and curl up when I rest. I don’t have venom. Instead, I use my strong body to give my food a gentle squeeze before I eat.”

Pepper (Bearded Dragon) – “I’m a desert-dwelling lizard who loves to bask in the heat. I use arm waves and head bobs to communicate, and when I get excited or defensive, I puff out my beard; it turns black!”

More Reptile & Amphibian Friends – You may have also met some toads, frogs, and lizards! Each one has super cool adaptations that help them survive in the wild.

Which one was your favorite?
