Do Reptiles Make Good Pets?

If you've ever looked at a reptile and wondered why someone would keep a reptile as a pet, this video is for you! We're digging into some of the many reasons why reptiles can be the PERFECT pet! In this video, I'll be sharing some of the top reasons why I recommend reptiles as pets for those that are looking for their first pet or to add another pet to their home.

Reptiles are Quiet

This is probably one of the most overlooked things about reptiles but they are so quiet! You may have the occasional scritching inside an enclosure but for the most part, you’re not going to hear much. This makes reptiles ideal for people that live in apartments or condos or shared living spaces.

Reptiles Don’t Have Fur.

And all the allergy sufferers rejoice. You never have to worry about pet allergies with a reptile! This is one of the reasons that I absolutely love reptiles. I have severe pet allergies and I have to stay on medication for them but I never have to worry about my reptiles causing a flare up!

The other bonus is being able to wear black without having fur all over me whenever I handle my reptiles.

Reptiles Are NOT Destructive.

Because of the care that you have to provide, your reptile isn’t going to be able to cause damage to your home. Reptiles are kept in enclosures until they are taken out for enrichment or handling. That time is always under supervision which means your reptile isn’t going to damage anything.

And truth be told, they really couldn’t anyway- not your average pet reptile that is!

Reptiles Don’t Require Training.

No puppy classes for your scaly buddies! This makes them an excellent choice for a pet parent that doesn’t have the time to invest in pet training for a dog or a cat, etc. And let’s be honest- training, while important, isn’t always easy and doesn’t always come naturally.

Now I want to be clear. I’m saying that reptiles are great pets. I’m not saying they’re easier pets. Want to know why? Click the video above to learn why I can’t say reptiles are EASIER than dogs or cats!
